Exploring the intersection between art and food, FEAST presents a group of artworks by undergraduate and graduate students whose practices engage concepts of food as they relate to identity and culture, relationships, the domestic, art history, studio techniques, artistic materials, and more.
Showcasing works in a wide range of media including ceramics, glass, painting, drawing, video and photography, the exhibition offers a platform from which to discover the countless ways in which food is appearing within and impacting upon contemporary art practices. Finding both commonalities and divergences in the ways in which students at the University of Manitoba’s School of Art are thinking through the social, political and cultural significance of food, FEAST aims to bring diverse audiences into conversation around a topic integral to human and animal life.
